Heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular diseases account for over half of all deaths in the United States. Recent scientific publication have estimated that over 90 percent of heart attacks and strokes could be prevented by effective therapy instituted before people become sick.
The Rasmussen Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at University of Minnesota medical Center provides three distinct program services, including an initial and follow-up screening/evaluation, consultation and, if needed, intervention management.

A complete screening takes between one to two hours. Other than blood sampling, the procedures are non-invasive, painless, require no preparation and take only a few minutes each.

- Cardiovascular examination
- Blood sampling for markers of cardiovascular risk
- Urine test for early evidence of blood vessel abnormalities
- Stress blood pressure response test
- Lung function test
- Photo of arteries in the eye
- Arterial contour analysis
- Special blood pressure test to detect arterial blockage
- Ultrasound screening of heart
- Electrocardiogram
