Antepartum Care

Newborn Nursery
- A skilled team of nurses is available 24 hours a day to care for newborn infants who may need special care and attention
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview
- Located just down the hall from The Birthplace
- Is a level III NICU staffed by a team of nurses and physicians trained to treat the most complex of premature and critically ill newborn infants
- Is nationally recognized for exceptional care, positive patient outcomes and excellent teamwork
- Along with neonatalogists, partners with a team of pediatric specialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, ear, nose and throat, ophthalmology, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, and more
Milk Bank
- Offers nursing mothers a convenient way to donate breast milk to babies who need it the most. (Request a donor application packet by calling the milk bank office at 612-672-4122.)
Lactation Center
- A board-certified lactation consultant is available for new mothers and babies who need extra assistance with breastfeeding on an outpatient basis and can assist with solutions to breastfeeding issues. For more information, call 612-273-2220.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
- A full range of personalized obstetrical care, fetal diagnosis and treatment services is available for pregnant women who are at risk for experiencing a medically complicated pregnancy.
Birth and Family Education Programs
- A variety of classes for expectant and new parents and their families are available at all Twin Cities metropolitan-area Fairview hospitals.
- Provide information and support to help you have the healthiest pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences possible
- Classes are offered at times and locations convenient for all members of your family and private education classes are available at home or in the hospital.
